“Actions Inc. of Brazoria County strives to serve the needs to enrich the lives of Senior Citizens of Brazoria County.”

Actions Inc. was originated by the Community Planning Council of Brazoria County in September 1974 to plan and coordinate services for the older adults of Brazoria County.  The Aging Project exhibited such growth that in 1978 the council and the Advisory Committee of the Aging Project initiated steps toward separation.  The members of the Advisory Committee of the Aging Project became the initial members of the Board of Directors of Actions Inc. of Brazoria County.  Actions Inc. received its charter as a non-profit organization in January 1978.

Actions Inc. is the legal responsibility of a volunteer Board of Directors, which is composed of active participants, interested citizens, and involved community leaders throughout Brazoria County.  The Board strives to maintain a majority membership of older adults.  The Board is solely responsible for determining agency goals.  The Board is also responsible for the hiring of the Executive Director and for insuring that adequate funding exists for the agency to function.

The work of Actions Inc. is made possible with financial assistance from Title III Older Americans Act through the Houston-Galveston Area Council, the United Way of Brazoria County, the Brazoria County Commissioners Court, and from individual and group donations such as the use of facilities from cities, churches and organizations.  We also, generally, have a fundraiser during the year.

Actions Inc. employs a small but dedicated staff for the overall operation of the program.  In addition to the staff site director, dedicated volunteers help in the operation of the senior centers.  Each senior center has a participant site council who serve as leaders of the center.

We extend an invitation to persons in the county to visit an Actions Inc. center.  Enjoy the fellowship and join us as we strive to meet the needs of the senior citizens of Brazoria County.
